The species Mycobacterium moriokaense was originally described and validly published by Tsukamura et al. 1986. Nouioui et al. published an emended description of this species in 2018. In 2018, Gupta et al. established as the basonym of (Tsukamura et al. 1986) Gupta et al. 2018 .
