Nomenclatural History
The species Mycobacterium shimoidei was originally described by Tsukamura et al. 1975. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 1982 the name was revived and validly published by Tsukamura. Nouioui et al. published an emended description of this species in 2018.
