Nomenclatural History
The species Nocardia brevicatena was originally described by Goodfellow and Pirouz 1982. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 9 in 1982. Nouioui et al. published an emended description of this species in 2018. Goodfellow and Pirouz formed this name in 1982 by placing the species Lechevalier et al. 1961 (Approved Lists 1980) into the genus Trevisan 1889 emend. McClung 1974 (Approved Lists 1980).
