The species Nocardia soli was originally described by Maldonado et al. 2000. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 82 in 2001. Nouioui et al. published an emended description of this species in 2018. Nouioui et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of Maldonado et al. 2001 in 2018. Nouioui et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of (ex Rucker 1969) Isik et al. 1999 in 2018.
