The species Rhodococcus aichiensis was originally described by Tsukamura 1982. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 12 in 1983. In 1994, Klatte et al. established Rhodococcus aichiensis as the basonym of
Gordonia aichiensis corrig. (Tsukamura 1983) Klatte et al. 1994
