Nomenclatural History
|
The species Rhodococcus sputi was originally described by Tsukamura 1978. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. In 1988, Stackebrandt et al. established Rhodococcus sputi as the basonym of
Gordonia sputi corrig. (Tsukamura 1978) Stackebrandt et al. 1989 emend. Riegel et al. 1994
. Zakrewska-Czerwinska et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of
Rhodococcus obuensis Tsukamura 1983
in 1988.
