Nomenclatural History
This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 59 in 1996. Euzéby corrected this name from (sic) to . The subspecies Saccharothrix aerocolonigenes staurosporea was originally described by Ōmura et al. 1977. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 1995 the name was revived by Takahashi et al..
