The subspecies Streptomyces albus pathocidicus was originally described by Nagatsu et al. 1962. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Labeda et al. elevated this subspecies to the rank of species to form the name (Nagatsu et al. 1962) Labeda et al. 2014 in 2014.
