The subspecies Streptomyces achromogenes rubradiris was originally described by Bhuyan et al. 1965. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Komaki and Tamura elevated this subspecies to the rank of species to form the name (Bhuyan et al. 1965) Komaki and Tamura 2021 in 2021.
