The species Streptomyces albogriseolus was originally described by Benedict et al. 1954. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Komaki published an emended description of this species in 2021. Komaki established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of
Streptomyces viridodiastaticus (Baldacci et al. 1955) Pridham et al. 1958 (Approved Lists 1980)
in 2021.
