The species Streptomyces anulatus was originally described by Waksman 1953. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Lanoot et al. published an emended description of this species in 2005. Lanoot et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of (Korenyako et al. 1960) Pridham 1970 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Nouioui et al. 2018 in 2005.
