Nomenclatural History
The species Streptomyces aurantiacus was originally described by Waksman 1953. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Lanoot et al. published an emended description of this species in 2002. A subsequent emendation was proposed by Saygin in 2021. Lanoot et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of (Krainsky 1914) Waksman and Henrici 1948 (Approved Lists 1980) in 2002. Saygin established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of (Krasil'nikov and Yuan 1965) Pridham 1970 (Approved Lists 1980) in 2021.
