Nomenclatural History
The species Streptomyces avermitilis was originally described by Burg et al. 1979. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 2002 the name was revived and validly published by Kim and Goodfellow. Takahashi et al. established as an earlier homotypic synonym of Takahashi et al. 2002 pro synon. Streptomyces avermitilis (ex Burg et al. 1979) Kim and Goodfellow 2002 in 2002.
