The species Streptomyces champavatii was originally described by Uma and Narasimha Rao 1959. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Rong et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of
Streptomyces albidoflavus (Rossi Doria 1891) Waksman and Henrici 1948 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Nouioui et al. 2018
in 2009.
