The species Streptomyces chibaensis was originally described by Suzuki et al. 1958. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Lanoot et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of Ahmad and Bhuiyan 1958 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Nouioui et al. 2018 in 2005.
