The species Streptomyces coelescens was originally described by Pridham 1970. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Komaki established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of
Streptomyces anthocyanicus (Krasil'nikov et al. 1965) Pridham 1970 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Komaki 2021
in 2021.
