The species Streptomyces ehimensis was originally described by Witt and Stackebrandt 1990. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 38 in 1991. List Editor corrected this name from (sic) to . Hatano et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of Witt and Stackebrandt 1991 pro synon. Streptoverticillium abikoense (Umezawa et al. 1951) Locci et al. 1969 (Approved Lists 1980) in 2003. established as a later homotypic synonym of (Shibata et al. 1954) Locci et al. 1969 (Approved Lists 1980) in 2017.
