The species Streptomyces erumpens was originally described by Calot and Cercós 1963. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Guo et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of
Streptomyces griseus (Krainsky 1914) Waksman and Henrici 1948 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Nouioui et al. 2018
in 2008.
