The species Streptomyces griseobrunneus was originally described by Waksman 1961. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Rong and Huang established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of
Streptomyces bacillaris (Krasil'nikov 1958) Pridham 1970 (Approved Lists 1980)
in 2010.
