The subspecies Streptomyces griseus alpha was originally described by Pridham 1970. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Lanoot et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of
Streptomyces microflavus (Krainsky 1914) Waksman and Henrici 1948 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Komaki and Tamura 2020
in 2005.
