Nomenclatural History

The species Prosthecochloris aestuarii was originally described by Gorlenko 1970. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Imhoff published an emended description of this species in 2003. A subsequent emendation was proposed by Hahnke et al. in 2016.
