Nomenclatural History
The family Rhodospirillaceae was originally proposed by Pfennig and Trüper 1971. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Hördt et al. published an emended description of this family in 2020. This name replaces the name Garrity et al. 2007 .
