Nomenclatural History
The species Rhodospirillum salinarum was originally described by Nissen and Dundas 1984. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 17 in 1985. In 1998, Imhoff et al. established as the basonym of (Nissen and Dundas 1985) Imhoff et al. 1998 emend. Hördt et al. 2020 .
