Nomenclatural History	The species Magnetospirillum magnetotacticum was originally described by Schleifer et al. 1991. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 40 in 1992. Schleifer et al. formed this name in 1991 by placing the species Aquaspirillum magnetotacticum Maratea and Blakemore 1981 into the genus Magnetospirillum Schleifer et al. 1992 emend. Hördt et al. 2020.
