Nomenclatural History
The family Acetobacteraceae was originally proposed by Henrici 1939. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 1980 the name was revived and validly published by Gillis and De Ley. Hördt et al. published an emended description of this family in 2020.
