Nomenclatural History
The species Acetobacter aceti was originally described by Beijerinck 1898. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Hördt et al. published an emended description of this species in 2020. In 1974, De Ley and Frateur reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form (Pasteur 1864) Beijerinck 1898 emend. De Ley and Frateur 1974 (Approved Lists 1980) . In 1984, Yamada and Kondo established as the basonym of (Pasteur 1864) Yamada and Kondo 1985 .
