The species Acetobacter hansenii was originally described by Gosselé et al. 1983. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 12 in 1983. In 1997, Yamada et al. established as the basonym of corrig. (Gosselé et al. 1983) Yamada et al. 1998 emend. Lisdiyanti et al. 2006 .
