Nomenclatural History
The subspecies Acetobacter pasteurianus pasteurianus was originally described by Beijerinck and Folpmers 1916. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. This name was affected by Judicial Opinion 86 in 2008. De Ley and Frateur published an emended description of this subspecies in 1974. In 1879, Hansen reduced (Hansen 1879) Beijerinck and Folpmers 1916 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Hördt et al. 2020 to the rank of subspecies.
