Nomenclatural History
The subspecies Acetobacter pasteurianus ascendens was originally described by De Ley and Frateur 1974. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Hördt et al. published an emended description of this subspecies in 2020. Gosselé et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of (Hansen 1879) Beijerinck and Folpmers 1916 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Hördt et al. 2020 in 1983. Kim et al. elevated this subspecies to the rank of species to form the name (Henneberg 1898) Kim et al. 2020 in 2018.
