Nomenclatural History
The species Gluconacetobacter liquefaciens was originally described by Yamada et al. 1997. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 64 in 1998. Upon validation, this name was corrected from (sic) to . Hördt et al. published an emended description of this species in 2020. established as a later homotypic synonym of (Asai 1935) Gosselé et al. 1983 in 2017. elevated the subspecies (Asai 1935) De Ley and Frateur 1974 (Approved Lists 1980) to the rank of species to form this name in 2017.
