Nomenclatural History
The species Gluconacetobacter xylinus was originally described by Yamada et al. 1997. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 64 in 1998. Yamada et al. formed this name in 1997 by placing the species corrig. (Brown 1886) Yamada 1984 into the genus (sic) Yamada et al. 1998 corrig. Yamada et al. 1998. In 2012, Yamada et al. established as the basonym of (Brown 1886) Yamada et al. 2013 emend. Hördt et al. 2020 .
