Proper Form
| Teichococcus Kämpfer et al. 2003 |
Nomenclatural History
|
The genus Teichococcus was originally proposed by Kämpfer et al. 2003. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 92 in 2003. Sánchez-Porro et al. transferred the members of this genus into
Roseomonas Rihs et al. 1998 emend. Rai et al. 2021
in 2009. Sánchez-Porro et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of
Muricoccus Kämpfer et al. 2003
in 2009.
The unification of Muricoccus and Teichococcus into Roseomonas effectively makes Muricoccus and Teichococcus heteroypic synonyms. Although Validation List No. 92 shows the two genera as having the same page priority, Muricoccus appeared first in the list and is therefore the earlier name.
