Nomenclatural History
The order Rickettsiales was originally proposed by Gieszczykiewicz 1939. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Brenner et al. published an emended description of this order in 1993. A subsequent emendation was proposed by Dumler et al. in 2001.
