Nomenclatural History
The family Rickettsiaceae was originally proposed by Pinkerton 1936. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Brenner et al. published an emended description of this family in 1993. A subsequent emendation was proposed by Dumler et al. in 2001.
