Nomenclatural History
The species Orientia tsutsugamushi was originally described and validly published by Tamura et al. 1995. Hördt et al. published an emended description of this species in 2020. Tamura et al. formed this name in 1995 by placing the species (Hayashi 1920) Ogata 1931 (Approved Lists 1980) into the genus Tamura et al. 1995.
