Nomenclatural History
|
The genus Ehrlichia was originally proposed by Moshkovski 1945. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Philip published an emended description of this genus in 1974. A subsequent emendation was proposed by Dumler et al. in 2001. Dumler et al. transferred the members of
Cowdria Moshkovski 1947 emend. Philip 1974 (Approved Lists 1980)
into this genus in 2001.
Dumler et al. 2001 proposed a "unification" of some species of Erlichia into Anaplasma. However, these were simply new combinations.
