Nomenclatural History
The species Ehrlichia chaffeensis was originally described by Anderson et al. 1991. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 41 in 1992. Dumler et al. published an emended description of this species in 2001. A subsequent emendation was proposed by Hördt et al. in 2020.
