Type Status	This is the type strain for Methanobacterium thermoformicicum Zhilina and Ilarionov 1986 and a non-type strain of Methanothermobacter thermautotrophicus (Zeikus and Wolfe 1972) Wasserfallen et al. 2000, Methanobacterium thermautotrophicum corrig. Zeikus and Wolfe 1972 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Touzel et al. 1992 and Methanobacterium thermoautotrophicum (sic) Zeikus and Wolfe 1972 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Touzel et al. 1992.
