This exemplar contains the only 16S rRNA feature that matches the Brosius 1978 sequence exactly, and does not match any named isolates. This is the sequence that was originally used for the reference points in numbering the bases. It differs from contemporary genome sequences by the deletion of a base at position 87 or 88.
