Nomenclatural History
The genus Pseudidiomarina was originally proposed and validly published by Jean et al. 2006. Liu et al. published an emended description of this genus in 2018. Taborda et al. transferred the members of this genus into Ivanova et al. 2000 emend. Taborda et al. 2009 in 2009.

The unification of Pseudidiomarina into Idiomarina was not explicitly stated by the authors; however, it was implied by the transfer of all species of Pseudidiomarina into the genus Idiomarina.
