Nomenclatural History
The species Polaribacter butkevichii was originally described by Nedashkovskaya et al. 2005. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 110 in 2006. Kim et al. published an emended description of this species in 2013. A subsequent emendation was proposed by García-López et al. in 2019.
