The genus Sporotalea was originally proposed by Boga et al. 2007. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 115 in 2007. Moe et al. transferred the members of this genus into
Pelosinus Shelobolina et al. 2007 emend. Moe et al. 2012
in 2012.
