Nomenclatural History	The species Alicyclobacillus acidocaldarius was originally described and validly published by Wisotzkey et al. 1992. Goto et al. published an emended description of this species in 2006. Wisotzkey et al. formed this name in 1992 by placing the species Bacillus acidocaldarius Darland and Brock 1971 (Approved Lists 1980) into the genus Alicyclobacillus Wisotzkey et al. 1992 emend. Karavaiko et al. 2005. In 1998, Nicolaus et al. reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form Alicyclobacillus acidocaldarius acidocaldarius (Darland and Brock 1971) Wisotzkey et al. 1992 .
