Nomenclatural History

The species Amycolatopsis orientalis was originally described and validly published by Lechevalier et al. 1986. Nouioui et al. published an emended description of this species in 2018. Lechevalier et al. formed this name in 1986 by placing the species
Nocardia orientalis (Pittenger and Brigham 1956) Pridham and Lyons 1969 (Approved Lists 1980)
into the genus Amycolatopsis Lechevalier et al. 1986 emend. Nouioui et al. 2018. In 1990, Howey et al. reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form
Amycolatopsis orientalis orientalis (Pittenger and Brigham 1956) Lechevalier et al. 1986
