The species Halorubrum arcis was originally described and validly published by Xu et al. 2007. Infante-Domínguez et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of
Halorubrum distributum (Zvyagintseva and Tarasov 1989) Oren and Ventosa 1996 emend. Infante-Domínguez et al. 2020
in 2020.
