The species Micromonospora carbonacea was originally described by Luedemann and Brodsky 1965. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. In 2000, Kasai et al. reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form Luedemann and Brodsky 1965 (Approved Lists 1980) .
