Nomenclatural History
The species Morganella morganii was originally described by Fulton 1943. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Skerman et al. established as an earlier homotypic synonym of (Winslow et al. 1919) Yale 1939 (Approved Lists 1980) pro synon. Morganella morganii (Winslow et al. 1919) Fulton 1943 (Approved Lists 1980) in 1980. In 1992, Jensen et al. reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form (Winslow et al. 1919) Jensen et al. 1992 .
