Nomenclatural History	The species Pantoea stewartii was originally described and validly published by Mergaert et al. 1993. In 1993, Mergaert et al. reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form Pantoea stewartii stewartii (Smith 1898) Mergaert et al. 1993 . Mergaert et al. formed this name in 1993 by placing the species Erwinia stewartii (Smith 1898) Dye 1963 (Approved Lists 1980) into the genus Pantoea Gavini et al. 1989 emend. Brady et al. 2010.
