The species Parvimonas micra was originally described and validly published by Tindall and Euzéby 2006. Tindall and Euzéby established Parvimonas micra as a later homotypic synonym of
Micromonas micros (Prévot 1933) Murdoch and Shah 2000
in 2006. Tindall and Euzéby formed this name in 2006 by placing the species
Peptostreptococcus micros (Prévot 1933) Smith 1957 (Approved Lists 1980)
into the genus Parvimonas Tindall and Euzéby 2006.
