The subspecies Staphylococcus cohnii urealyticum was originally described and validly published by Kloos and Wolfshohl 1991. Sneath corrected this name from Staphylococcus cohnii urealyticum (sic) to Staphylococcus cohnii urealyticus . Madhaiyan et al. elevated this subspecies to the rank of species to form the name
Staphylococcus ureilyticus (Kloos and Wolfshohl 1991) Madhaiyan et al. 2020
in 2020.
